Ardmore

Healdton - Funeral services for Mr. Olin "Billy" William Owen, Jr., age 74, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by his nephew, Toby Owen. Services are handled with care and direction by Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory.

Olin was born on November 11, 1950, in Vernon, Texas, to the late Mr. Olin William Owen, Sr. and Mrs. Mildred (Cantrell) Owen. He passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Raised in Texas, Olin graduated from Crane High School in 1969. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1971, serving honorably until 1973. In March of 1990, Olin married Cricket Owen and together they raised three daughters: Meagan, Maleah, and Haley. Olin was a loving Dad, Pops to his grandkids and Bebo/Billy to his family and close friends. After a long career with Mobil Oil as a roustabout, he retired, and Olin then found a career in hauling horse trailers all over the United States where he made countless memories of traveling with Crickett and his girls.  The last 9 years he took great joy in serving as the camp host at Elephant Rock at Lake Murray, a role that endeared him to many campers who often made sure he was well-fed.

Olin had a profound love for outdoor activities, which included camping trips with his daughters, fishing, and boating. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Texas Rangers and OKC Thunder, and had a passion for horse racing, classic cars, and traveling.

Olin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Owen. He is survived by his daughters, Maleah Johnson and her husband Josh, Haley Smith and her husband Derek, and Meagan Poteet and her husband Travis; his sister, Paulette Silkey and her husband Terry; and his beloved grandchildren, Emree, Aubree, and Decker Johnson; Kasen and Rinlee Smith; and Carson and Camryn Poteet. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will include Josh Johnson, Derek Smith, Travis Poteet, Carson Poteet, Decker Johnson, and Kasen Smith. Honorary bearers are designated as all Lake Murray Oklahoma State Park Employees, his Campers, Kenny Smith, Leland Styles, and Danny Box.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
