Healdton - Home Going services for Mr. Olen Wayne" Splinter" Skelton, 79, of Healdton are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday Dec. 2, 2021 at Oil Springs Cemetery at 3 bar C Chatham Ranch with son in law, Kent Stewart officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
Wayne was born on June 13, 1942 at Healdton to the late Mr. Doggie "D.B." Barnett Skelton and Mrs. Mollie Elizabeth Chambers. He went to his heavenly home on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 25, 2021 at his home in Healdton.
Wayne was a resident of this area all of his life. He graduated from Healdton High School in 1962. During his high school years, Wayne drove a bus for the school. He worked all of his years as a dozer and heavy equipment operator and was employed for Jimmy Rex Chatham for many years, being employed there since the early 90's. Wayne initiated the Christmas Float tour in Healdton which was a decorated semi truck and trailer in 1980, handing out candy to all the children in the Healdton neighborhoods.
Wayne married Karen Sue Engle on Feb. 28, 1986 and she preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2011. Wayne always loved antique tractors and to attend tractor and equipment shows. He was an avid OU football fan and always enjoyed watching football games on television.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, John and Bennie Skelton and a sister, Imogene Waller.
Survivors include his daughters, Connie Kuhlman and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Tammy Stewart and husband Kent of Paoli and Hannah Skelton of Healdton; grandchildren, Jesse Cox, Andrew Kuhlman, Jami Martin, Stefany Ruhl, Katie Kulhman, Levi Stetler and Will Stewart; great grandson, Rayge Stetler; sister in law. Joyce Skelton of Healdton; nephew, Harrell Steele; cousins, Janet Skelton and Joe Skelton. numerous other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Jimmy Rex Chatham, Mike McKee, Harlan Carroll, Cody "Wahoo" Norman, Gene Rutledge, Wesley Jones and Levi Stetler.
Honorary bearers are Raymond Seedig, Cullen Hill, Jim Griffin, Randy Milson, Josh Glenn and Joe McKee.
Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm Wed. evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
