Ringling- Graveside Services for Mr. Odus “O.W.” William Folsom JR., 82, of Velma are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2014 at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Charles Jackson officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Odus William Folsom JR. was born on February 2, 1932 at Healdton, Oklahoma to Mr. Odus William Folsom ,SR. and Mrs. Ova Lou (Harwell )Folsom. He passed from this life Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home in Velma, Oklahoma.
O.W. was raised in the Ringling, Velma and Graham area and graduated from Velma High School in 1949. He attended college for a short time and then went to work in the oil fields.
O.W. worked for Avalon Oil Company retiring from there as a Field Supervisor. He and Peggy Nye had been companions since August of 2006 and resided in Velma, Oklahoma.
As a young man O.W. enjoyed riding bulls and did so until his back was broken.
He enjoyed raising cattle most of his life. O.W. was very close to his parents. He loved gospel music and enjoyed attending church at the Countyline Baptist Church.
O.W. is preceded in death by his Parents, Odus and Ova Folsom; Daughter, Debra Jo Folsom who preceded him on January 20, 2014.
Survivors include his Companion, Peggy Nye of the home; Daughter, Jan Vargus and husband Juan of Round Rock, TX.; Peggy’s Children , James Layne and wife Suzie of Velma,OK., Mary Beth McGuire and husband Bill of Velma, OK. and Wilma Hatley and husband Larry of Edmond, OK.
Honorary Bearers are Bobby Perkins and Jamie Mercer.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
