Graveside Services for Mr. Odus Lee Southerland, 84, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Hewitt Cemetery Pavilion in Wilson with Pastor Randal Richards officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Odus Lee Southerland was born May 9, 1929 at Ringling, Oklahoma to the late Mr. Harvey Southerland and Mrs. Oura Pauline (Folsom) Southerland. He passed from this life Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Odus was raised in Ringling and Wilson living mostly on Reck Road. He lived in this area his whole life except for a brief time while in the U.S. Navy. Odus farmed and ranched. Owning and driving his own truck he worked for Texoma, Groendyke ,Texoma Oil and at one time he and his half brother Skeet Smith were partners in a trucking company. Odus married Janice Beck September 11, 1963 and preceded him in death April 7, 2004. He enjoyed camping at the lake and was a loving father, grandfather and companion to Betty.
In addition to his Wife, Janice, Odus was also preceded in death by his Parents, Harvey and Oura Southerland; Son, Odus Glen Southerland; Daughter, Becky Tipton; 6 Brothers and 2 Sisters.
He is survived by his Daughter, Connie Gaither and husband, Larry of Ardmore; Grandchildren, Angie Wood and husband, Scott ,Amy Terry and husband, Dustin, Mandi Goodman and husband, Jake, Kristi Tipton, Brian Southerland , Misty Lamberger and husband Martin; 16 Great Grandchildren; Step-Children, Janete Mefford of Wilson and Cassie Southerland of Wilson and his loving and devoted companion Betty Gaston.
