Nettie Jane Pruitt

Wilson- Funeral Services for Mrs. Nettie Jane Pruitt, 95, formerly of Orr, are scheduled for 3:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Bro. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Orr Cemetery in Orr, OK. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Nettie was born April 20, 1915 at Orr, OK to the late Mr. Walter Curtis Hodgson and Mrs. Martha Jane (Baucom) Hodgson. She departed this life Friday March 11, 2011 at Pauls Valley, OK.

Nettie was raised in Orr attending school there and graduating from Orr High School in 1932. Immediately following her graduation, Nettie began working at the Love County Court House. During WWII, she joined the War effort as a “Rosie Riveter” constructing airplanes. After working in several states, she married Mr. Bob Pruitt and they resided in Oklahoma City. She retired from Helmerick & Payne Oil Company and then returned to Orr. She was instrumental in the construction of the Orr Cemetery Pavilion and loved being back home. In August 2009, she moved to the Willow Assisted Living Center of Pauls Valley. Nettie loved the nurses and staff there, and all the residents quickly became part of her life. She enjoyed all the activities and was very active in church at the Willows. She never stopped reading the Marietta Monitor and the Ringling Eagle, and it seemed she always knew everyone.

Preceding her in death is her Parents; Husband , Robert “Bob” Pruitt, Siblings; Curtis Hodgson, Ethel Newell, Ina Brandon, Joe Hodgson, and Lavern Hodgson.

Survivors include a host of Nieces and Nephews and many friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers are nephews.

Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pauls Valley Hospice, 100 Valley Dr. / Pauls Valley, OK 73075.
