Nellave Ashley

Newport - Memorial Services for Mrs. Nellave (Yancey) Ashley, 93 of Newport are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Nellave was born on January 29, 1926 at Wichita Falls, TX to the late Mr. Herman S. Yancey and Mrs. Nettie Lee (Evans) Yancey. She departed this life on Wed. February 27, 2019 at her home north of Lone Grove.

Nellave married the Mr. Coy Ashley on May 28, 1951 at Gainesville, TX. She helped with the Farm and Ranch north of Lone Grove most all their years together, in addition to serving as a Foster mother to many children and working outside the home within retail clothing and shoe stores. Coy preceded her in death on October 21, 2014. Also preceding are her Parents; daughter, Donna Humphrey; brother, H.S. Yancey and a sister, Billie Ide.

Survivors include her son, David Sandford "Sandy" Ashley, Sr. (Penny) of Newport; sister, Wilma O'Brian of Ft. Worth, TX; brother, Monty Yancey and wife Charlotte of Granbury, TX; sister in law, Pauline Purcell of Newport; grandchildren, David Ashley and wife Marsha, Sandra Rotella, Tom Howell, Amanda Holbrook and husband Caleb and Josh Carlile and wife Brook; great grandchildren, Wyatt Ashley, Madison Wilkerson, Braxton Wilkerson, Nevaeh Rotella, Payton Rotella, Kailani Ashley, Khiana Ashley, Cody Holbrook and Hannah; numerous other family and friends.
