Joyce Darnell "Nell" (McLeroy) Briscoe formerly of Fox departed this life on April 15, 2021 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore at the age 82 years, 3 months, and 18 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday - April 18, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Fox with Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Cemetery, Graham, OK. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Nell was born on December 22, 1938 to the late Mr. Reeves Sterling McLeroy and Mrs. Ruth Bostic (Jones) McLeroy in Olney, OK.
She grew up and attended school in Stringtown, OK. She met Mr. Robert Golden Briscoe one day at the local convenient store in Ratliff City and they soon married on Feb 13, 1960 in Oklahoma City. Together the couple made their home in Woodward for many years raising their children there. They moved back to Fox in the early 90's and made their home here until the past couple of years when Nell moved to the Ardmore Village Lodge where she made many friends and enjoyed visiting with everyone there. Nell was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She loved gardening and working in her flower gardens where she could grow anything. She was a excellent cook and baking was her specialty. Nell had many jobs in her lifetime working as a housekeeper, waitress, Fruit of Loom Sewing Factory and the Lena Pope Women's Home. Nell was of the Christian Faith a member of the Fox Baptist Church.
Mrs. Briscoe is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Golden Briscoe; sister, Estell Crow; and brother, Jimmy McLeroy.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Mae (Briscoe) Mack and her husband Grover of Shamrock, TX, Brenda Kay (Briscoe) Martin and her husband Leonard of Carrollton, TX; sons, Virgil Rickey Briscoe of Las Vegas, NV and Brett Golden Briscoe of Casper, WY; brother, Roger McLeroy and his wife Jodi of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law, David Crow of Tupelo; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Viewing will be held from 12 noon until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday - April 17, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
