Nathan "Strawberry" Emanual Jett

Velma - Funeral Services for Mr. Nathan "Strawberry" Emanual Jett, 76, of Velma are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday July 20, 2018 at the Countyline Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Claud Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.


Strawberry was born on Dec. 25, 1941 at Maud to the late Mr. Aaron A. "Jim" Jett and Mrs. Irene Dona (Hanna) Jett. He departed this life on Tuesday, evening July 17, 2018 at his home in Velma.


Strawberry was one of twelve children being raised at Maud attending and later graduating from Harjo High School. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after the Korean War and served honorably for four years active duty. In 1964 being stationed in New Jersey he met and later married the former Ms. Margaret V. "Peggy" Wells. They were united in marriage on Sept. 11, 1965 at Trenton, NJ. They moved to Tecumseh, OK in 1968 and then to Loco and later to Velma in 1975. Strawberry worked as a carpenter for many years and then in the oilfield. He built his own rig and ran it for many years, retiring from the oil patch when he was 70 years old.

Strawberry's favorite pastime was gardening and catching flathead catfish on his trot-lines. He enjoyed fish fry's with his family and friends and was a member of the Countyline Baptist Church.


Preceding him in death are his Parents; brothers, Andrew and Paul; and his twin granddaughters, Amanda Dawn and Amber Denise Jett.


Survivors include his wife Peggy of the home; sons, Mike Jett and wife Amanda of Velma, Scott Jett and wife Sharon also of Velma, Tom Jett of the home, Mark Jett of Checotah and Aaron Jett and wife Darae of Duncan; brothers, A.T. Jett and wife Miriam of Vian, Ken Jett and wife Evelyn of Denton, TX, John Jett and wife Barbara of Waxahachie, TX, David Jett and wife Rena' of Tecumseh and Glen Jett and wife Karen of Sapulpa; sisters, Nancy Griffin of Macomb, Wanda Bristow of Shawnee, Carol Quinalty and husband Jimmy of Prague and Mary Beauford and husband Randy of Seminole; 9 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other family.


Casket Bearers are Nick Jett, B.R. Riffe, Fluff Wofford, Alan Kirkpatrick, Mark Chambers and Tommy Briscoe.


Honorary Bearers are Dewayne "Shorty" Simpson, Rodney Auld, Reagan Jones, Ray Stepp and Kenneth Brake.


Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the Velma Chapel.
