Ratliff City- Home Going services for Mrs. Naoma Ruth (Balthrop) Mullins, 96, of Ratliff City are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Ratliff City First Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Scroggins and Rev. Chuck Newell officiating. Interment will follow at the Newport Cemetery.
Naoma was born April 8, 1921 at Deese to the late Mr. Claud B. Balthrop and Mrs. Monta Zuma (Austin) Balthrop. She went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at her home in Ratliff City.
Naoma was raised at Newport and Deese as 1 of 5 children attending school at Newport. She married Mr. Ralph Henry Mullins, Sr. on Dec. 24, 1938 at the courthouse in Ardmore. They made their home at Stobtown where they were charter members of the Stobtown Free Will Baptist Church. Following work in the Oil Patch, they relocated to Ratliff City in 1958 and became charter members of the Countyline Free Will Baptist Church.
Naoma was a very devoted homemaker and caretaker. She worked outside the home periodically for the Marietta Pants Factory and a substitute mail carrier. She also sold AVON and Amway. She was a prayer warrior for many, spending countless hours on her knees and was always caring for others. Ralph preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1992. Naoma continued to stay active in the community and at the Countyline Free Will Baptist Church until its closing. Since then she has attended and joined the Countryside Freewill Baptist Church of Velma.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Claudius Ray Mullins on Feb. 6, 2005 and Rickey Dean Mullins on January 17, 2016; and siblings, Gene Balthrop, Bessie Miller, Joe Balthrop and an infant grandchild Timothy Ray Mullins.
Survivors include her Son, Ralph Mullins, Jr. and wife Joyce of Pruitt City; daughters, Glenda Sanchez and husband Ben of Ratliff City and Sue Chaffin and husband Bob of Moore; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Mullins of North Carolina; sister, Imagene Lowery of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Casket Bearers are Dennis Mullins, Mark Mullins, Kevin Mullins, Billy Copeland, Michael "Taco" Sanchez and Mark Pitcock.
Honorary Bearers are Henry Norton, Ted Cox and Robert Thornton.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Ratliff City.
