Nannie (Nan) Faye Poteet was born - August 9,1930 to William Champ Ledgerwood & Elva Zora (Finley) Ledgerwood.She fell asleep in death February 18, 2020.

Nan married Raymond Conyers Poteet February 7,1947 and to this union came 9 children.She made many sacrifices for her family and felt family vacations, even if it was just camping fora week or two, were important in keeping the family close. She was the kind of mom you could talk to any time, about anything but she did not hold back from correcting you, using the Bible as the guide.

Although her growing family could have used the money, Nan did not work outside the home until her youngest was 5 and then she would only take jobs that allowed her to be home when the kids got home from school. She turned down a management job because she felt that her most important job was raising her children and knew that kind of job would take away from the family. Nan worked the longest as a dinner cook for Opal's cafe. She could cook anything & was known in the area for her hot rolls, cinnamon rolls, pies & fried pies.

Even after her children grew up, when it snowed, they would declare a snow day and meet at her house with their friends to play games. She would always make her 'melt in your mouth' cinnamon rolls & twists. Nan was an avid reader and could always be found with a couple books by her chair, she even enjoyed reading cook books. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing; able to make or alter anything for her family or friends.

Affectionately called Nanna by many, she was known as a very loving, generous and self sacrificing person. She took care of sick and aging family members and friends, even taking them into her home until their death. Nan was also known for her hospitality. Her idea for a gathering of family or friends was, ‘the more the merrier.’ And her solution for your problems started with feeding you.

While Nan loved her children and grandchildren she took special delight in her great grandchildren. However, her greatest love was her creator, Jehovah God. Nan dedicated her life to him October 3rd,1949, when she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed talking to others about her God, Jehovah and his son, Christ Jesus and their purpose to rid the earth of all badness and restore perfect life on earth under God's Kingdom rule. She had strong faith in the promise of the resurrection by Christ and looked forward to seeing again those who proceeded her in death, such as her parents, her husband, R.C., two infants, daughter Donna(who died at birth) and a twin son, David William (who died at 3 months), her adult daughter,Darla Faye Hughes, and many friends and relatives.

She is survived by son-in-law, Allen Hughes, Madison Florida, son, Deral Poteet and wife, Vicki of Healdton, daughter, Jan Poteet, of the home, son, Champ Poteet and wife Deborah of Waurika Lake, daughter, Robin Terraitepo of Bora Bora, French Polynesia, daughters, Valerie Poteet of Healdton, and Lea Poteet of the home, ten grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank Cross Timbers Hospice employees for their kind care of their mom, especially Karen Poteet and Rachel Fernandez.
