Myra Gazzette Alexander

September 6, 1940 — January 11, 2025

Wilson

Mrs. Myra Gazzette Alexander, aged 84, of Wilson. Myra left this world peacefully on January 11, 2025 at her home. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, with Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Hewitt Cemetery.

Born on September 6, 1940, to the late Mr. Clyde Gerald Fincher and Mrs. Hazel (Savage) Fincher in Alma, OK. Myra lived a life full of warmth, love, and dedication. She spent her formative years in Dillard and graduated from Wilson High School in 1958, later attending Murray State College. On June 21, 1958, Myra united in marriage with Charles Robert Alexander at the First Baptist Church of Wilson, beginning a partnership that would span decades and take them on many adventures as they established a loving military family.

Myra was the heart of her family—an exceptional homemaker with a talent for cooking that ensured her loved ones always felt cherished and cared for. After Charles’ retirement in 1982, they moved back to Wilson where she operated Blondell's Flowers for about 2 years.  She later worked at the Wilson Travel Stop with her good friend Helen Chivers.  She then spent most of her time chasing after her grandkids to every football, basketball and softball game they played.

She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers (Lloyd and Garylon Fincher), and a sister (Wanda Dickerson).

Myra is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Alexander; her son, Robert Alexander; her daughter, Marsha Bartling, and her husband Tim; grandchildren Keaten King and his wife Logan, Rindi Appelman and her husband Matt, and Taylor Alexander; and great-grandchildren Charley King, Georgia King, Easton White, Reese Stewart, Rush King, and Kyzer Appelman. She is also survived by her loving brothers Bill Fincher and his wife Rosie, and Arnold Fincher and his wife Martha; sisters-in-law Myrna Hayes and Joy Alexander, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a vast circle of family and friends who adored her.

Pallbearers will be Keaten King, Tim Bartling, Matt Appelman, Trevor Richardson, Taner Richardson, Derek Fincher, Tom Hayes, and Bill Fincher. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Manor and Wayland Alexander.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. Memories may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.
