Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. Monroe “Mike” Benjamin Grover, 73, of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ Gospel Tabernacle of Ringling with Bro. George McCants officiating, assisted by Bro. Johnnye Blankenship and the eulogy provided by Bro. Terry Grant. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Mike was born November 7, 1937 at Grady to the late Mr. Albert Lewis Grover and Mrs. Ruby Ellen (Perry) Grover. He departed this life Friday, May 20, 2011 at Ardmore.
Mike attended school at Courtney and Leon. He and the former Dot Lance were united in marriage June 4, 1957 at Gainesville, TX. Mike was employed by Justin Leather Goods of Nocona, TX for 15 years, before moving to Arlington, TX and later Gonzales, TX employed for Tandy Manufacturing.
As a Model Maker and Leather Designer, Mike invented the “Money Belt” for Hickok Marketing and designed several trophy belts for athletes between 1974 to 1985. In 1985 he and Dot relocated to Healdton where they opened and operated a flower shop named “Dot & Mike’s”. He later retired from the Ringling Motel as manager in 1994. He always loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to his wife and her family sing hymns and praises.
Preceding him in death are his Parents; and Siblings, Son Grover, Patricia Guthrie and Alvis Grover.
Survivors include his loving wife Dot of the home; Daughters, Tami L. Stewart and husband Dennis of Healdton, Sanda K. Noland and husband Doug of Mansfield, TX and Tanya R. Humphrey and husband Chris of Burneyville. Sisters, Willa Dean Lee of Nocona, TX, Norma Jean Jones and husband Don of Davis, and Marie Freeman and husband Larry of Amarillo, TX. Grandchildren, Joshua Rangel, Stephanie Hoover, Brittney Stewart, Zachary Stewart and Trenton Humphrey. Great Grandson Miguel Rios with numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Dewayne McCarty, Charles Wade, Sonny Charles, Sam Bolton, Chris Humphrey, Joshua Rangel and Trenton Humphrey.
Honorary Bearers will be Jimmy Ray Green, Jeremy Green, Lafon Glenn, Gale Black, Don Patrick, Bob Linn, Wayne Strader and Charles Strader.
