Midge was born July 27, 1939 to the late Mr. John Buster Newell and Mrs. Mable Lois (Taylor) Newell in Wanette, OK. She departed from this life on April 3, 2017 at her home in Ardmore.
Midge was raised primarily in Wilson attending school there. She married Guinn Dean Turner of Rexroat in February of 1957 at Gainesville, TX. They moved frequently as a military family settling at Watauga, TX when Dean was in Vietnam. After his discharge, they moved to Euless, TX where they both worked in manufacturing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In January of 1976, Dean preceded her in death. In 1982, she met Jim Freytag and they married March 5, 1986 in Denton, TX. Midge spent most of her professional career working for Xerox and, after she retired she began sewing baby quilts for her grandchildren. Soon after Jim retired, they began an adventure in their RV where they traveled across the US, and visited Mexico and Canada. Midge always said her favorite vacation spots were Glacier National Park and the Canadian Ice Fields. Midge loved sewing quilts for family and friends, being with her family, and writing poetry. She had a great faith in God which is apparent in her poetry.
Preceded her in death are her parents; daughter, Deannie Diane Turner; sisters, Lonie Viola Ferguson and Betty Turner; and brothers, Bob Newell, David Newell and Buster Newell.
Midge is survived by her husband Jim of the home; daughters, Angela Yvonne Turner and partner Mark, Cynthia Lynn Kaylor and husband Brett and Doris Cathlene McNutt and husband Larry; sons, Leslie David Turner and wife Dawn and Mike Freytag and wife Becky; sisters, Nancy Van Sickle and Lois Ann Nash; brothers, Johnny Newell and wife Karen and Bill Newell; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
