Michael Tanner Vernon

Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Michael Tanner Vernon, 25, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at the River of Life Church with J.D. Scifres officiating and Tim Beard eulogizing. Interment will follow at Vernon Family Cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Tanner was born on March 9, 1996 at Ada to Danial Gene Vernon and Jamie Dawn (Beard) Vernon. He passed from this life Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 at Ardmore.

Tanner was raised primarily at Lone Grove where he was active playing sports at Lone Grove Schools, graduating in 2014. He played football and baseball and furthered his baseball career collegiately at Bacone College of Muskogee for 2 years. His position was center field and pitcher. After leaving Bacone, Tanner returned to this area where he always loved to hunt and fish and worked locally as a pharmacy technician. Tanner enjoyed playing co-Ed softball, playing X-Box and spending time with family and numerous friends. Tanner was baptized as a young child at the River of Life Church of Wilson.

Those who preceded him in death were his, grandfather, Jimmie Jo Mann; great grandparents, Melvin "Smooth" and Meady Mae Vernon, Harold and Laverne Morris and Beatrice Posey.

Survivors include his parents, Danial and Jamie Vernon of Ardmore; sister, Rebeccah Buck and husband Joey and niece and nephew, Sutton and Tripp, all of Wilson; grandparents, David and Lois Vernon of Wilson, Patricia and Gary Dean of Mt. Vernon, TX and Donna Beard of Ardmore; uncles, Lee Vernon of Wilson and Michael Beard of Lawrence, KS; aunts, Shawna Mann of Oklahoma City, Tera Johnson of Blanchard, Missy Corey of New Castle and Randi Mann of Oklahoma City; special great aunt and uncle, Kenneth and Danna Hitt of Ardmore; host of numerous friends, cousins and other family.

Casket bearers are Tim Beard, Tristan Johnson, Phoenix Donahue, Derek Sullivan, Christian Harrell, Jacob Stewart, Nathan Meek and Dylan Gatzemeyer.

Honorary bearers are Lee Vernon, Michael Beard, Kenneth Hitt, Joey Buck, Tripp Buck, Kevin Hitt, Colt Beard and Levi McKown.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
