Michael Ray Johnson

Ratliff City - Graveside services for Mr. Michael "Mike" Ray Johnson, 67 of Haynesville, LA are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 5, 2018 at Ratliff City Cemetery with Rev. Glynn Baker officiating. All are welcome to attend lunch at Ratliff City Baptist Church at 12:00 P.M. to visit with family.

Mike was born at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City on September 18, 1951 to Gladys and Edward Johnson. He died peacefully in Cherry Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility on October 30, 2018 In Bastrop, LA.

Mike was a 1969 graduate of Fox High School and graduated from ECSU in 1973 with a BA in Industrial Arts and Geography. On June 30, 1979, he was united in marriage to Cathy Lyn Garrett. To this union was born one daughter, Pepper D. Johnson. The couple set about teaching Pepper about love and life. Mike is remembered as a kind, playful and loving Father who encouraged her to pursue her goals. He was an accomplished businessman/salesman for his business, J-Sport. Mike was a dedicated individual who loved sports, but especially OU and LA Tech football, and who was passionate about seeing his grandsons participate in sports. He loved going to watch the play and cheer them on. In previous years, he accepted Jesus as his Savior at 6 years of age. He was an active and dedicated church member.

Michael is preceded in death by his father; grandparents; aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Gladys Johnson of Velma; wife, Cathy Lynn Johnson of Haynesville, LA; daugher, Pepper and husband Jason Lyon; grandsons, William and Elijah Lyon of Sterlington, LA; brother, Keith and wife Nina Johnson of Velma; nephew, Jason Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK and a host of extended family and friends.
