Michael Anthony Gunnels

Burneyville - Funeral Services for Mr. Michael "Mike" Anthony Gunnels, 50 are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Burneyville Baptist Church with Bro. Monte Dinwiddie officiating. Interment will follow at the Burneyville Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home Wilson.

Mike was born on January 31, 1967 at Garland, TX to Mr. Billy Doyle Gunnels and Mrs. Betty LaJuane (Bilbrey) Gunnels. He departed from this life on Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home in Burneyville.

Mike was raised at Centerville, TX where he attended school, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. After graduating high school, he moved to Achille where he worked in construction as a plasterer. Mike relocated to Burneyville about 5 years ago due to his health and to be close to his family. He loved coon hunting, winning many competitions. Some of his trophies included a 1st place from Texas Coon Hunters Association. Mike was a member of Burneyville Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thell and Gracie Gunnels, Mr. and Mrs. William and Hattie Bilbrey and Mr. and Mrs. O.C. and Allie Rowden.

Mike is survived by his son, Jeremy Gunnels of Austin, TX; the mother of his son, Melissa Gunnels of Roundrock, TX; parents, Billy and Betty Gunnels of Burneyville and brothers, David Gunnels and wife Tracy of Choctaw and Mark Gunnels of Burneyville; nieces, Amanda Ross and husband Rex and Chelsi Mullens; nephew, Jeremy Willis; great nieces and nephews, Austin Allen Ross, Liam Don Ross, Paisley Erin Mullens and Raena Jo Mullens; numerous other family and church family.

Casket bearers will be Mark Gunnels, David Gunnels, Jim Bob Gunnels, Bo Gunnels, Dickey Lewis and Jeremy Willis.

Honorary bearers are the Men of the Burneyville Baptist Church.
