Mr. Melvin Walker
Funeral Services for Mr. Melvin Walker, 82, former Orr resident, is scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday November 7, 2008 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team of Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
Melvin was born January 1, 1926 at Orr, OK to the late Mr. Gilbert Cecil and Addie (Rogers) Walker. He departed this life Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore.
Melvin was raised at Orr attending school there. He enlisted into the United States Navy January 25, 1945, serving during WWII. He served honorably being discharged July 30, 1946. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
Melvin worked in the Oil Patch most of his working years and also owned and operated “Walker Auto Salvage” in Zaneis. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Preceding him in death is his Parents, Sister, Mary Frances Trammel and a brother Earl Walker.
Survivors include his Daughter Carla Moody and husband Rusty of Bradyville, TN, Sister Dorothy Lyle of Orr, 3 Brothers, Charles Walker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Paul Walker and wife JoAnna of Wilson, and Bruce Walker of Orr. 3 Grandchildren Chrissy Conway, Jeremy Moody, and Jeffery Moody. 3 Great Grandchildren, Austin Moody, Jayden Moody and Alexis Moody. Numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
