Maxie Louis Gibson

Ringling – Maxie Louis Gibson, departed this life on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 20 days. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Ringling with Bro. Billy Holder officiating with Thad Kassheimer assisting. Cremation services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.


Maxie was born on September 9, 1938 to the late Mr. William Claude Gibson and Mrs. Ruby Gertrue Simpson Gibson in Chickasha, Oklahoma.


Mr. Gibson was raised at Ringling and attended Ringling Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1956. He then joined the United States Army and proudly served his country for two terms, lastly receiving his honorable discharge on January 22, 1963 as an E-4. Maxie married the late Georgia May Phillips on March 8, 1965 in Ardmore. Together they made their home in Ringling where they would start their own family. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2017. Max enjoyed playing board games, fishing, and spending time with his family. He especially loved watching football and softball on TV with friends and family. Maxie was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Ringling.


Also, preceding him in death are his parents; wife; brother, Verdo Gibson and his wife Lois Gibson; sister, Wanda Bachhofer and her husband, Carl and a infant brother Donnie Gibson.


Mr. Gibson is survived by his daughters, Giohna Price and husband Scott of Ringling; Monica Smith and husband Brent of Ringling; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gibson, Kylie Price, Jacob Smith, Savanna Williams and husband Dennis, Josh Smith and wife Amy; Great grandchildren, Nixon and Nora Watterson, Mack and Case Smith, and Sianna Williams; special friend, Rhea Morris of Ringling; many other nephews, nieces, and other relatives and a host of friends.


Serving as honorary casket bearers will be William Gibson, Cliff Smith, Jesse Serna, Jeff Matthews, Johnny Higdon, Gene Jackson, Cecil Britt,, Keith Martin and all the men of the Apostollic Church of Jesus Christ.


Inurnment will be held in the Ringling Cemetery at a later date.
