Wilson - A celebration of life of Mrs. Mary Ruth (Henson) Lambert, age 88, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. The service will take place at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, with her grandsons officiating. Private interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Mary was born at home on May 11, 1936, in Wirt, Oklahoma, to Mr. Clarence Raymond Henson and wife Evelyn Beatrice (Brown) Henson. Mary joined her loved ones in heaven on January 9, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was raised in Dundee, Oklahoma attending Dundee school, graduating in 1954. Following high school, she attended Draughon’s Business College. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various local oil field companies. In 1956, Mary married her high school sweetheart, Don Lambert on Christmas day. Following their marriage, Don was drafted into the Korean war and Mary followed him around the U.S. During that time, they stayed primarily in Alabama and Missouri. Don was discharged from the military, and they settled back into their home in Wirt, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two daughters, Jan and Christi. Mary and Don owned and operated “Don’s Tank Truck Service.” For over a decade, their company serviced the state of Oklahoma and North Texas. When not working, you could find her and the girls on the farm working cattle and plowing the fields.

Mary was a devout follower of Christ. She loved the Lord and read scripture daily. Often, you could find her sending encouraging notes to her family and friends. Although Mary had many spiritual gifts, her love and care for the underserved were of utmost importance. She regularly placed others' needs above her own. She loved caring for the hungry, widowed, and those in need. Ultimately, Mary’s compassionate nature inspired her girls to become nurses.

Mary also loved traveling. During retirement, she was able to fulfill this lifelong dream of experiencing different parts of the world. Out of all her trips, her most cherished was her visit to the Billy Graham Library. Each of her grandchildren loved to travel with “Mimi” over the years, which is a memory truly cherished by all. She enjoyed traveling to Branson often to enjoy the entertainment and visit with some of her best friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn Henson, husband Don Lambert, brother Doyle Henson, brother-in-law’s Sam, Lloyd and Leo Lambert, sister-in-law Lula May Roberts and her beloved nephew Robert Owens.
