Ratliff City - Graveside Services for Mrs. Mary Emoline (West) Groover, 93, formerly of Ratliff City are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday October 13, 2018 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Rev. Glynn Baker officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Mary was born on April 27, 1925 at Brady, OK to the late Mr. Fred Allen West and Mrs. Edith (Brown) West. She went to be with her Lord and loved ones on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Elmbrook Nursing Home where she was lovingly cared for several years.
She was the second of two daughters of her parents. She was married to Ray Beamer for 10 years. After his death, she married Forrest Paul Groover on December 5, 1987 at Velma.
After graduating from Woodland High School in 1943, her principal hired her to teach in Dougherty in the absence of male teachers going off to World War II. Mary continued teaching while earning her degree from East Central University in Ada. She taught for 43 years and loved teaching at Daugherty, Peavine, Woodland, Sulphur, Davis and Velma. Mary had a kind, gentle, uplifting spirit and loved singing and leaded others singing Christian songs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Forrest Groover, her sister, a niece and a nephew.
Survivors include two nephews, Allen L. Murdock and wife Billie Jean of Memphis, TX and Jessie W. Murdock and wife Deby of Clarendon, TX and niece Mary Ellen Cook of Amarillo, TX and five great nephews.
Family visitation will be held form 6to 7pm Friday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
