Marvin Edward Henderson

Ringling – Funeral Services for Mr. Marvin Edward “Hen” Henderson, 86, of Ringling is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. March 9, 2011 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling with Bobby Perkins officiating and Stanley Hudson providing the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling.


Marvin was born October 7, 1924 at Atlee, OK to the late Mr. Willie “Pete” Henderson and Mrs. Zella (McCann) Henderson. He quietly passed from this life on Saturday March 5, 2011 at Ardmore.


Marvin was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Parents, and siblings, G.W. Powers, Laverne Powers, Jimmy Don Powers, and Lucille Duncan.


He is survived by his longtime friend and care taker, Faye D. Pearson of Ringling. Siblings, Jervine Reynolds of Oklahoma City, Jess Powers of Seminole, and Ruth Bills of Talihina, OK.


Marvin attended school at Orr, Union Hill and Ringling. He joined the Navy his senior year to serve in WWII. He served six years, reaching the rank of Boatswain. He made several beach head landings. Following his service in the Navy, he attended Long Beach State College in Long Beach, CA. for two years. He studied engineering, but his first occupational love was in the oil field industry. He worked in thirteen countries for various companies. After retirement, he worked for the Ringling School systems as a bus driver and custodian for 15 years. He was an avid Blue Devil Football fan, playing as a Blue Devil himself in the early forties.


Marvin was a very kind person with a generous spirit. He gave to anyone in need. He never married and had a family of his own, but he loved children. He was well liked and respected by the school staff and students alike. He supported many activities and events. Marvin made many friends and was loved by all will be truly missed.


Pallbearers will be Grey Shivers, Donnie Southerland, Norris Box, Gary Dewbre, Les “Bubba” McCauley, and Ernest Marshall.


Family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Ringling.
