Martin Farrell Vik

Ringling - Mr. Martin Farrell Vik, 77, of Ringling passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at a healthcare facility in Shawnee, OK. He was born on April 8, 1939 at Grimstad, Norway to the late Mr. Leif Vik and Mrs. Catherine (Farrell) Vik.

Martin was a resident of Grimstad for the initial 10 years of his life. His families were generational ship builders of that area. His family moved to Islip, NY where, Martin attended school and resided most of his years. As an Artist, he attended college at Farmingdale, NY studying commercial Art for 2 years.

Martin was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He served honorably as a radio operator and operations SGT from 1963 to 1965 and received several badges and commendations, including the expert pistol and rifleman's badge.

Martin and the former Barbara des Garennes were united in marriage at Maryland. He worked as a Bay man for several years at the Great South Bay in Long Island, NY where he daily harvested oysters, clams and eels. Later in life he became the Chief Maintenance personnel for Islip Public Schools. There he was employed for 20 years before retiring. He and Barbara then moved to Oklahoma in 2002 residing north of Ringling.

Martin always had a passion for painting art and he valued horses. He also enjoyed working with wood and was an avid OU sports fan. He was always tinkering with things and took great pleasure in the outdoors. Martin was a member of the American Legion for 51 years, Am Vets for 15 years and a past member of the Lutheran Church.

Preceding in death were his Parents; brother, Johan Vik and a sister, Vilma Vestal.

Survivors include his loving wife Barbara of the home; children, Eugene Corulla and wife Tracey of Easton, PA, Cynthia Corulla of Staten Island, NY, Rudy Corulla, also of Staten Island, NY, Kim Clareen and husband Spencer of Stamford, NY and Mark Corulla of Kerhonksen, NY; other children, Laura and Deborah; grandchildren, Danielle, Andreanna, Samantha, Jessica, Christina, Ashley, Spencer Jr., Francine, Nadine, Mark and Adrianna; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Brit Pantano of North Carolina; nieces, JoAnn, Karen and Linda; nephews, Michael Nilsen and Jeffrey Nilsen; numerous other family and friends.

Cremation services were under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Crematory of Ringling.
