Ringling- Graveside Services for Mrs. Martha Pearlene (Russell) Greer, 64, of Eastman are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday July 9, 2015 at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Tim Young officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Martha was born Dec. 1, 1950 at Simon to the late Mr. George William "Willie" Russell and Mrs. Parlee Delcena (Nipp) Russell. She departed this life Monday, July 6, 2015.
Martha was raised south of Wilson and then Leon attending school there and graduating her Senior year at Turner High School in 1969. She initially began employment at the pants factory in Marietta and later became employed for ARCO Pipeline Co. She married Mr. James H. Greer on October 15, 1976 at the Rubottom Baptist Church. They made their home in Ringling raising their son Chancey.
Martha done roustabout work for ARCO pipeline co. until retiring in the early 90's. She then began her second career choice being a nurse. Martha worked for all the surrounding healthcare facilities and received a second retirement from the Ardmore Veterans Center.When James preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2006, Martha thereafter moved to the community of Eastman where she enjoyed the farm life. She loved her animals and always enjoyed working. Martha also enjoyed buying gifts for everyone especially her twin grandchildren.
In addition to her husband,also preceding her in death were her Parents; sisters, Linda Lawson and Sharon Young; nieces, Tressie Skiles and Shanna Benedict and a great nephew Aaron Aden.
Survivors include her son Chancey Greer and wife Renae of Ringling; grandchildren, Emily and Sterling Greer; Sister, Georgia Holland and husband Jerry of Eastman; brothers, Bill Russell and Joe Russell, both of Leon; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.
Casket Bearers are Derek Fincher, Curtis Rich, Stanley Barnes, David Stout, Jason Bone and Travis Trammel.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to the Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore 207 C St. NW , for their kind felt care and support.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wed. evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
