Martha Emma Lakey

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Emma Lakey, 71, of Wilson, are scheduled for 3:00 pm Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Pastor Edward Jordan officiating. Interment services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at the North Baptist Cemetery in Jasper County, TX. with Bro. James Crawford officiating. All services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Martha was born February 7, 1940 at Jasper, TX to Mr. James George Stott and Mrs. Lola Alene (Dunn) Stott. She departed this life Tuesday March 15, 2011 at Ardmore, OK.

Martha was raised at Jasper attending school there. She married Mr. Richard Lakey Nov. 2, 1958 at Jasper County, TX. They lived all over Texas and Louisiana following construction work. She was primarily a devoted housewife and homemaker and in the early 1980’s was employed some as a custodian and nutritionist. They made their home in Wilson in 2006, coming here with her husband to minister at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of Wilson. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing and eating fish, helping people, canning, her grandkids, gardening and she loved her little brown dog “Stoney”.

Preceding her in death are her Parents, Sister - Rae Trussell, and 6 infant daughters.

Survivors include her Husband Richard of the home; Sons, Rick Lakey, and Doug Lakey and wife Cindy, both of Wilson, and James Lakey and wife Tiffney of Graford, TX. Daughter, Jennifer Wilson and husband Jeremy of Wilson. 6 Grandchildren, Wendy, Brandi, Justin and wife J.J., Josh and Amber, Jared and Erick. 3 Great Grandchildren, Blazin, Madeline, and Brogan. 3 Brothers, Jerry Stott and wife Linda of Jasper, TX, Ronnie Stott and wife Margarette of College Station, TX, and Henry Stott and wife Phyllis of Daluth, MN. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Erick Lakey, Josh Lakey, Jared Lakey, Justin Lakey, James Lakey, and Doug Lakey.

Honorary Bearers Billy Eddins, Darrell Eddins, Jerry Stott, Ronnie Stott, Henry Stott and Rick Lakey.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
