Mark Dillard, age 56, of Albuquerque, NM passed away in his home after spending his last week surrounded by loved ones in his well-deserved retirement from Albuquerque Fire Department. He began as a cadet in the fire academy in 1996 and made his way up to dispatch by 2004. In 2006, Mark was awarded Firefighter of the Year, and throughout was known for his wild resourcefulness. Whether it was instructing the use of a shoestring to assist delivering a baby or making a sling out of brown paper towels for a dislocated shoulder at dance practice; he was never without a solution. Above all he was incredibly honest, genuinely thoughtful, and deeply loved. Mark joins his father Don and sister Carla in final rest. Those he leaves behind came from every walk of life. His mother, Gladys; sisters, Pam and Mona; daughters, Jessica and Jordan; and nieces/nephews from the Dillard, Painter, Valerio, and Kileen families. He leaves veterans, firefighters, neighbors, grade school friends, government workers, sports lovers, stoners, and all friends known as family, with the ache of grief.
