Overbrook -A gathering to celebrate the life of Mark Allen Rozzell, 53, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at McAlister Cemetery, Dolese Road, Overbrook, OK. Mark passed away on June 8, 2011 in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he had made his home for fifteen years. It was a life characterized by friendships and generosity.
Mark was born on August 23, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to Francis Wayne Rozzell and Billye Jean (Anthony) Myers. The family returned to Ardmore in 1966 and he graduated from Ardmore High School in 1975.
Mark was blessed with creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit. He enjoyed working various jobs from waiting tables at Fireside Dining here in Ardmore, at Molly Murphy's in Oklahoma City, and Pelican's in Dallas to being a salesman at Montgomery Wards, Ardmore. He later ran a fruit and veggie stand in Mannsville. He worked in the flower markets in both San Francisco and Honolulu. In Honolulu, he owned and operated Hedgehog Landscaping. He appeared as an extra in the television series "Lost". At the time of his death, he was Operations Manager for the Recycling Center at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
His creativity and generosity most manifested itself in Mark's hospitality. He was so well-regarded for his parties and holiday gatherings that his friends referred to him as "Marka Stewart". He was truly his father's son in his love of preparing and eating good food. Mark was an inveterate collector and fixer-upper and much of his fixing was for his friends. Mark was the person whom one could ask for help who always said yes. He was remembered by his friends at a memorial service at the Honolulu Yacht Club on June 13, 2011, with lots of food and laughter.
