Marion Sawyer-Cain

December 30, 1931 — December 17, 2024

Marion Sawyer-Cain, of Ardmore, was born December 30, 1931, in California. She departed this life December 17, 2024, at Oklahoma City at the age of 93.

Growing up on a farm in Wewoka, Marion developed a strong affection for horses, which would undoubtedly shape her lifelong appreciation for the beauty and freedom of nature. Her early experiences instilled in her a remarkable work ethic and a sense of responsibility. As an adult, Marion moved to Mid-West Texas, where she owned and operated her own restaurant for over a decade. This endeavor showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and ability to connect with the community. Marion’s journey took a pivotal turn when she accepted a position as a bookkeeper at TH Rogers. Her exceptional skills and diligence soon led her to the role of County Clerk—a position she embraced wholeheartedly. Her dedication to her work was evident, as she performed her duties so well that no one dared to run against her throughout her tenure. After serving in this role for an impressive 32 years, Marion finally retired but not before leaving an indelible mark on her community.  Retirement opened up a world of possibilities for Marion, who delighted in traveling the globe and seeking new adventures. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Marion was known for her exceptional handwriting, which she took great pride in as one of her special talents. She also enjoyed playing the piano but above all, Marion cherished her role as a grandmother, relishing the time spent with her grandchildren and all of her great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Jack Sawyer; daughter, Mary Ann Price; grandson, Zachary Bartley; five siblings.

Survivors include her many special grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and even great great great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
