Marilyn Jean Morris

October 10, 1947 — April 3, 2016

Pooleville - Graveside services for Mrs. Marilyn Jean (Burton) Morris, 68, of Allen, TX are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday April 7, 2016 at the Pooleville Cemetery with Pastor Lyn Holly of Cannon Baptist Church of Van Alstyne, Texas officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Marilyn was born October 10, 1947 in Duncan, OK to the late Mr. Billy Eugene (Gene) Burton and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Fondren) Burton. She departed this life in the early hours of Sunday April 3, 2016 at the home she shared with her son and grandchildren in Allen, Texas.

Marilyn was raised as a part of a typical country family with a father that worked in the oilfield and mother who stayed at home. She graduated from Healdton High School and followed her husband to Dallas following the birth of their first son. While her children were small she lived as a homemaker and later in life worked as a Technical Writer for various industries.

Marilyn loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She was also an avid rock collector and enjoyed going on trips to hunt rocks with her husband Frank Morris whom she met while caring for her terminally ill mother in Graham. They later married in September of 1985 in Ardmore.

Preceding her in death were her Parents; husband, Frank V. Morris. Survivors include her sons, William Douglas Ward, Jr. and wife Juanita of Xenia, Ohio, Edward Alan Ward of Allen, Texas; Siblings, Billy Don Burton of Sulfur, Betty (Burton) Strimple and husband Bruce of Garland, Texas, Paul Burton and wife Tessie of Ardmore; Grandchildren Presley and Grace Ward of Allen, Texas who were the love of her life and her entire world. The family would like to recognize special caregiver and family member Aunt Joy Emberling of Healdton who spent sleepless nights helping with the needs of Marilyn and made it possible for her to be home with her family. The family would also like to recognize William Douglas Ward Sr., and his wife Dinorah as they spent many hours praying with Marilyn for her health, salvation, and the family she regretfully left behind.
