Peggy Jett

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Veronica (Wells) Jett, age 79, who departed this life on March 4, 2025, in Velma, Oklahoma. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Countyline Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jamie Griffin, with assistance from her son, Mike Jett. Interment will follow at Claud Cemetery. The services are entrusted to the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Peggy was born on July 23, 1945, in Trenton, New Jersey, to the late Mr. Charles Wells and Mrs. Hanna (Baker) Wells. She was raised in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School. On September 11, 1965, she married the late Mr. Nathan "Strawberry" Jett in Trenton. The couple moved to Tecumseh in 1968, later relocating to Loco in 1975, and then making their home in Velma in 1977.

As a devoted homemaker, Peggy found joy in numerous activities, including camping, fishing, dancing, and writing poetry. She also relished a good game of poker, gin, or rummy. One of her fondest memories was playing hooky to see Elvis perform.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nathan "Strawberry" Jett in 2019, and her twin granddaughters, Amanda Dawn and Amber Denise Jett.

She is survived by her children, Nathan "Mike" Jett and wife Amanda of Velma, Scott Jett and wife Sharon of Velma, Tom Jett of Velma, Mark Jett of Duncan, Aaron Jett of Comanche, and Diane Thrailkill of Velma; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.

The pallbearers will be Scott Jett, Mike Jett, Tom Jett, Nick Jett, Michael Pulis, and Paydon Jett. Honorary bearers include Allen Kirkpatrick, Ryan Lindsey, BR Riffe, Fluff Wofford and Leonard Austin. 

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
