Services for Marcos Pena Canales, 65, of Ardmore, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Crow Cemetery.

Marcos was born June 1, 1958, at Waukegan, Illinois, to Eusebio Lara “Mark” Canales, Jr. and Leidia (Diaz) Pena. He departed this life Monday, August 14, 2023, in Ardmore.

In 1968 Marcos’ family moved from Waukegan, Illinois, to reside at Courtney. He attended school at Turner where he played basketball, enjoyed Ag, and Woodworking. Marcos graduated with the class of 1978. He married the former Ms. Sheila Lynn Romines, May 9, 1981, at Marietta, OK. The couple made their home in Brushy Mound, where they raised their son, Jason. Marcos was employed as a painter and sandblaster at Jett for over 20 years. He had previously worked at Southerland and also at Plastec in Texas for 5 years. Marcos was mechanically inclined and loved to fish. He was an avid OU fan and was of the Baptist Faith.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Sheila in 2013 and brother, Jesse Canales.

Survivors include his special friend, Joni Spivey of Ardmore; son, Jason Canales and wife Shawn of Wilson; sisters, Dora Sellers of Ardmore, Maria Canales of Marietta, and Felicia Willingham of Burneyville; brothers, Juan “Johnny” Canales of Atoka and Benito Canales and wife Pam of Jasper, TN; grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Alexis Romines, Autumn Canales, and Brodey Canales; 2 great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Roger Romines, Forrest Gilcrease, Shane Fuston, Jacob Green, Matt Seers, and Juan Canales.

Honorary bearers are William Brodey Canales and all of his cousins and nephews.

Family visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
