Wilson - Lucille Virginia Roberts, long- time resident of Ardmore, ascended to Heaven on Wednesday evening, November 26, 2014 after a long illness. Her family was at her bedside when her Lord and Savior welcomed her into his loving arms.
Lucille was born to William H. (Bill) and Edys Cornelius (Talley) Marshall on February 9th, 1936 in Antlers, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by an unborn son, Baby Boy Roberts in 1953, her parents, sisters Lou Ella and Pearl, and brothers Bob, Bill (Junior), and Jesse Marshall.
Lucille is survived by her children; daughter Kathie Hester and her husband Dennis of Wilson, Oklahoma, son Kerry Roberts and his wife Kerry Lynn of Madill, and son Kris Roberts and wife Tammy of Bixby, OK. She is also survived by sisters Ida Bell Camplain of Ardmore, Gloria Marshall of Lone Grove, and brother Kenneth of Aztec, New Mexico.
She also leaves on this earth 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She adored them all, and was proud of each and every one.
Lucille was a longtime employee of the JC Penney store in Ardmore, and was a familiar face to generations of shoppers. Many knew her as “Lucy”.
She retired from Penney’s years ago, only to grow bored at home. She returned to work and remained employed until this past spring. Well into her 70’s, she enjoyed going to work, laughing with her colleagues and visiting with her numerous regular customers and welcoming new ones.
Before her illness Lucille brightened the lives of friends and family alike with her soft, pleasant demeanor, love for humor and dining out with her family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Cross Timbers Hospice for their devoted service to our Mother during her final months, as well as the staff of the Wilson Nursing Home.
Lucille’s grandsons and son in law will serve as pallbearers.
Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Pastor Terry Tolbert officiating . Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery at Wilson.
Family visitation will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 from 6- 8 Pm at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson.
