Lonnie Ray Davis

September 26, 1938 — April 20, 2023

Ringling - Graveside ceremony for Mr. Lonnie Ray Davis, 84, formerly of Ringling is scheduled for 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Family visitation will begin 11am prior to the service on Tuesday at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Lonnie, a resident of Oklahoma City, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was born September 26, 1938, to Lillard Harvey Davis and Zellar Mae (Blackwell) Davis, in a small three-room house just south of Ringling, OK. Lonnie graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1957 and was married for ten years to Linda Butler, which ended in divorce. Lonnie never re-married or had children of his own. A truck driver for 43 years, retired in 2005 after having bladder cancer and having his bladder removed. His health started to decline thereafter.

Lonnie had a heart for animals. He would feed all the birds and stray cats and dogs in the neighborhood. He was thrifty and enjoyed going to flea markets, estate sales, car auctions, and garage sales, in which he acquired many things as a result, but it made him happy. When Lonnie’s Father was unable to support the family, Lonnie stepped up at a very young age & found a way to provide for the family. He was always a hard worker and did the best he could to take care of his family.

When Lonnie was just a kid, and his feet couldn’t reach foot pedals, he drove the family’s flatbed truck to Union Hill school to pick up kids and take them home. He loved driving that truck! If he’d done that today, he would have been in big trouble and probably made the National news.

When Lonnie was in a skilled rehab home, for a short time, he said “A little Christian lady would come by and pray for me every day.” Lonnie said, “I got saved and accepted Christ as my Savior”. His Mama had prayed for him for years and finally her prayers were answered. Thank God! Lonnie will be dearly missed by all of us. Rest in peace Lonnie Ray.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Lillard and Zellar Davis, one niece, Kristie LeGrange, and brother-in-law, Ted Priest.

He is survived by two sisters: Polly Priest of Villaggio Senior Care Living of Oklahoma City; Betty and John LeGrange of Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews: Ted Alan and Ann Priest of New York; Chris and Kim LeGrange of Mustang; Mike and Jill Priest of Guthrie; Shelly and Tony Skinner of Enid; Michelle and John Walker of Mustang. Lonnie also left behind several cousins that were dear to him.

Pallbearers will be family.

Everyone will gather at the funeral home in Ringling prior to the service and then go in procession to the cemetery.
