Healdton- Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Lee Jean, 88,of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Healdton with Bro. Joe Taylor officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton, 65 Golf Course Rd. Interment will follow Rose Hill Cemetery of Ardmore.

Lonnie was born June 28, 1931 at Wynnewood to the late Mr. William "Arthur" Jean and Mrs. Clercy Elizabeth (Hays) Jean. He departed this life Saturday, July 20, 2019 at his home in Healdton.

Lonnie often spoke of growing up during the depression. He remembered he and his family picking cotton, harvesting peanuts and working in the broom corn fields. Lonnie was very proud of his hard working family.
He loved sports. Especially baseball, softball and basketball. Lonnie often spoke about playing against and outscoring a specific opponent in high school named Lester Lane, who later played and coached at OU. He had college scholarship offers to play basketball but chose to join the Air Force instead.

Stationed in Austin he was a supply clerk and enjoyed basketball and softball there as well. Lonnie later transferred to Japan and talked often about pulling guard duty at the base there. He was discharged out of the Aiir Force in 1953 and returned home to work for Continental Supply in Healdton, later transferring to Lindsay, OK.

While in Lindsay, he met and married Jacquelyn Baker. Her dad owned a farm where Lonnie and Jacque settled. Lonnie shared many funny stories about helping his father-in-law on the farm. While living in the Lindsay area, a son, Greg and a daughter, Karyl were born. Lonnie went to work for Westheimer Neustadt in the accounting department in Ardmore, another son, Steve was born soon thereafter.

Lonnie loved coaching little league baseball in his spare time. He led many teams to win championships, but helped many youngsters become better ball players and even better young men. Although not a regular church attendee, Lonnie was once asked to coach a church league, Royal Ambassador team for younger boys. They only played in one tournament in which he managed to draw a technical foul or two, but still managed to win the tournament!




In 1971 the family moved to Healdton where Lonnie started Sapphire Supply. He then started Jean Pump and Supply in 1978. At Jean Pump, Lonnie enjoyed solving customers pump problems, as he felt it was his calling to give salesmen a hard time. He loved taking a part epic debates that often took place in the store. Lonnie always enjoyed a good argument! A little known fact is that in 1974, he played an integral part in making a presentation to the Healdton School Board to start a baseball program. The effort was a success and baseball is still being enjoyed today at the Healdton High School.

Lonnie enjoyed farming and ranching at his property in Graham, OK. He also loved to sneak off and go fishing there whenever he could. Lonnie showed up for work everyday until he was 85 years old. He and Jacque were married 63 years in June. Lonnie was very proud of and always quick to brag on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude and love for the home health and hospice angels that took such wonderful care of him and our family. We wish to express our sincerest thanks to the Healdton first responders and the many friends who kept us in your prayers. We also thank God who is close to us and gives us strength in times like these. We don't know what we would have done without you.

Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Buell Jean and sister, Wilma Bishop.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jacquelyn of the home; Son, Greg Jean of Ardmore, OK; daughter, Karyl Scott and husband Louis of Ardmore, OK; son, Steve Jean and wife Gretta of Corinth, MS; Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amanda Scott and son Gavin, Garrett and Tonnie Scott with sons, Jude and Lawson, Mekenzi and Brad Love with son, Bennett, Madison and Lewis Tuley with son, Aiden, Tanner Jean, Emily Jean and Colton Jean; sisters, Ernestine Moore of Sulphur, OK, Betty McDaniel of Pauls Valley, OK, Gail Mayberry of Pauls Valley, OK; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Garrett Scott, Brad Love, Lew Tuley, Tanner Jean, Colton Jean, Greg Jean, Steve Jean and Darrell Hudson.

Honorary bearers are Ray Tynes, Frankie Williams, Barry Jones, Sam Claxton, Terry Claxton, Larry Miller, Jody Gilliland, Dennis Cope and Bruce Ayles.

Family visitation will be held from 6PM to 8PM Tuesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home at 65 Golf Course Rd. Healdton.
