Lonie Viola Ferguson

Lonie Viola Newell Ferguson - 84, died January 8, 2016, with her family by her side in

Woodward OK.

She was born April 4, 1931, in Trousdale OK, to John Buster Newell and Mable Lois

Taylor Newell. Services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Ash Street Church of Christ of Wilson. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.

On February 14, 1953, she married Harold Lloyd Ferguson of Wilson. Together they

lived in Wilson, Healdton, Ringling, Ratliff City, then eventually back to Wilson where

they raised three children. Ann, Robert, & Sammie.

After Harold’s death, Viola moved to Lone Grove OK, then decided she wanted to be

closer to her children so she moved to Ashland Kansas, and then to Mooreland OK,

where she resided at the time of her death.

Viola was the oldest of ten children and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a

homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, antiquing, fishing, and family reunions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lois Newell, Husband Harold

Ferguson, Brothers: Buster, David and Bob Newell, Sister Betty Turner, Ardmore, OK.

Viola is survived by her sisters: Nancy Van Sickle, Los Angeles, CA. Midge Freytag and

her husband Jim, Ardmore, OK. Ann Newell, Woodward, OK. Brothers: John Newell,

and his wife Karen, Ardmore OK. Bill Newell Ardmore, OK. Her sister in laws; Leta

Wheeler and Norma Ferguson of Wilson. Her children: Ann Daily and husband Jim,

Robert Ferguson and his wife Sherry, Sammie Smith and her husband Mike. 10

Grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and

other family members.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wed. January 13, 2016 at the Ash Street Church of Christ in Wilson with Jeff Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Tuesday evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
