Ratliff City – Funeral Services for Mrs. Lois LaVern (Gandy) Butler, 87, of Ratliff City, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Ratliff City Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Hillard and Rev. Rick Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Municipal Cemetery in Duncan. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Lois was born October 20, 1924 at Sante Fe, OK to the late Mr. Dewey S. Gandy and Mrs. Anna Jewel (Reed) Gandy. She departed this life at her home in Ratliff City Thursday morning March 29, 2012.
Lois was a native to this area attending her school years at Fox. She attended Business College at Oklahoma City for some years and was a very accomplished bookkeeper and clerical advisor for many businesses in this area. After World War II she married her High School sweetheart, Mr. Hodges P. Butler. They initially followed Oilfield work around Texas, New Mexico and Arizona before settling back her in Ratliff City., where they owned and operated “Butlers Laundry” and “Butlers Welding Service”, for many years. Lois had incredible work ethic working for her family business “Gandy Trucking” since the age of 5 years old. She was a very accomplished artist, always creating magnificent drawings. She loved her Dogs and enjoyed raising cattle and sheep. She also loved flying co pilot with her husband around the country and being a pastors wife of the Poolville Baptist Church for many years. Lois was a member of the Ratliff City Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death is her Parents; Husband, Hodges P. Butler; Daughter, Sylvia Butler, Sister, Lawanda Sjoline, Brother, Paul Gandy and Grandson, Tony Earl Hill.
Survivors include her Daughter, Angela Cortez and Husband Jay of Ratliff City; Son, Joe Aldridge of Muskogee; Brother, Dewey J. Gandy and wife Dickie of Ratliff City; Grandchildren, Toby-Vern Hodges Hill and wife Angela Don, Timothy Angelo Hill, and Teddy Lee Hill and wife Renee; Numerous great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Grey Gandy, Tony Gandy, Dewey David Kyle Camp, Michael Fondren, and Zachery Hill.
Family visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home in Ratliff City.
