Lindle was born on Jan. 21, 1940, at Ada to the late Mr. Elmer Lenny Flatt and Mrs. Claudia (Abbott) Flatt. He departed from this life on Monday morning April 29, 2024 at his home in Wilson.

Lindle was raised in Oklahoma. He left there to serve in the U.S. Air Force, completing a nine-month course in Russian and spending half of his eight-year period service in the Far East. The isolation of offshore oil rigs afforded Mr. Flatt the time to investigate the age-old knowledge handed down by sages of many cultures, which he used in writing his first book, The Eighth Day. He and Betty enjoyed racing their quarter horses and vacationing in Monterey California as well as gold prospecting in the Sonoran Desert and Alaska.
