Ringling- Services for Linda Lou (Taylor) Ridenour, 82, of Ringling, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Church of God Fellowship of Ringling with Rev. Glynn Baker officiating and son, Randy Ridenour and granddaughter Madalyn Ridenour assisting. Interment will follow at Petersburg Cemetery south of Ringling. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
Linda was born on December 13, 1942, at Winfield, Al, to the late Mr. Dewey Miles Taylor and Mrs. Myrtle Levert (Benson) Taylor. She went to her heavenly home Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Wilson.
Raised in a migrant family as the tenth of thirteen children, Linda’s early years were marked by travel as her family moved frequently in search of work, sharing their love for singing across the United States. This rich tapestry of experiences shaped her character and fueled her deep appreciation for community and togetherness.
On January 22, 1959, in Salome, Arizona, Linda united in marriage with Virgil Ellsworth Ridenour. In 1967, they made their home in Ringling, where Linda quickly became a beloved figure known for her warmth and generosity.
Throughout her life, Linda exhibited an incredible work ethic, and a heart devoted to service. She worked as a floor supervisor at the Marietta Cookie Factory for several years, showing great pride in her role. A transformative moment came in 1970 when Linda dedicated her life to Jesus, thereafter, devoting much of her time to supporting her husband in his pastoral work. Her commitment to her faith and her family was evident in all that she did.
Linda's talents extended beyond her professional pursuits. She was an accomplished seamstress, skilled in creating clothing that brought joy to her loved ones. Her creativity also flourished in the kitchen, where she decorated countless cakes with artistry and care. Additionally, she contributed to meaningful projects, assisting with building houses and bringing together friends and family in the spirit of collaboration, never meeting a stranger and was always inviting people to meet Jesus.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Virgil, November 21, 2014; siblings, Elsie Johnson, Herbert Taylor, Virgie Miller, Ellis Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Zumma Butcher, Lestie Lonon, Leo Taylor, and two other infant siblings; grandson, Phillip Nathaniel Linderman.
Survivors include daughters, Peggy Sanders and husband Gary of Wilson and Tammy Baker and husband Glynn of Ratliff City; sons, Harold Ridenour and wife Trixie of Ardmore and Randy Ridenour and wife Amanda of Ringling; sister, Ellen Abshire of Ringling; brother, Farrow Taylor and wife Dora of Healdton; 14 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Ridenour, Tyler Baker, Trent Baker, Freddie Smith, Nick Baker, and Marco Jamison.
Honorary bearers are Chasten George, Chancellor Howell, Kameron Howell, Dewey Taylor, Chuck McElroy, Nathan Bardin, Axel Teafatiller, Devan Smith, Ethan Smith, Cecil Britt, Gabriel Jimenez. Zane Gray, and Mark Howell.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Thursday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
