Mrs. Lillie Jewell Smith was born August 17, 1923 at McAlester, OK. to Mr. Ed Cathey and Mrs. Josie Carol (Walden) Cathey. She passed from this life Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Ardmore, OK just 4 days before her 90th birthday.

Jewell attended school at Indianola graduating there in 1942. She lived most of her adult life in McAlester and married Mr. Everett V. Smith there on April 9, 1943. They travelled extensively following his job .Everett preceded her in death December 22, 1952. She was a devoted housewife and loving mother dedicated to her family’s welfare. Jewell married Mr. John R. Smith April 4, 1959 in McAlester, Ok. he preceded her in death May 21, 1994 She was presently a resident of Lone Grove and had lived in Ringling before ,but her home has always been Marlow where she was a member at the Eastside Baptist Church in Marlow.

In addition to Everett D. Smith and John Smith Jewell is preceded in death by her Parents; Brothers, Doug Cathey, Ovie Cathey and Paul Cathey; Daughter, Virginia Wilson and Son, James Edward Ketchum.

Survivors include her Daughter, Judy Thrasher and husband Donald of Comanche,OK.; Son Everett E. Smith of Sterling, OK.; Sister, Maxine Jurgenson and husband Tom of McAlester; Brothers, Glenn Cathey and wife Lou of Temple, TX., Thad Cathey and wife Clara of Oklahoma City, OK., Darrell of Lone Grove, OK; 9 Grandchildren;19 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; A host of wonderful Nieces and Nephews, Family and Friends.
