Lillie Belle Gafford

Wilson - Graveside Services for Mrs. Lillie Belle (Copeland) Gafford, 92, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Jeff Jones officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Lillie was born March 5, 1924 at Wheeler, OK to the late Mr. Alexander Copeland and Mrs. Sefronia (Morse) Copeland. She departed this life Sat. January 7, 2017 at Ardmore.

Lillie was raised south of Wilson attending school at Blackjack. She was a resident of south Houston for many years and then moved to Sherman where she began working for J.C. Penney's as a sales clerk. Lillie worked for Penney's for over 20 years retiring in 1989. After she retired she moved back to Wilson residing on Ada street for 23 years until moving to the nursing home. Lillie always loved working in the yard and enjoyed walking on a daily basis. She was very involved in the Ash Street Church of Christ always attending and helping with different activities and dinners.

Preceding her in death are her Parents; son - Bobby Ray Gafford; daughter, Faye Idleman; sisters, Rosalee Loveless and Mae Caldwell; brothers, Elmer Copeland and Leonard Copeland and a granddaughter, Barbie Gafford.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Young and husband Gary of Ardmore; son in law, David Idleman of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, Pam Davis, Richard Turner, Denise Drinnon, Mark Idleman and wife Brenda, Joe Hampton and wife Melinda, Jimmy Hampton, Larry Gafford, Jewell Gafford, Heather Hunt and husband Biff and Wesley Young and wife Danielle; 19 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and other family.

Honorary bearers are Gary Young, Wesley Young, Kenny Young, Biff Hunt and Mark Idleman.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
