Lester Eugene Dyer

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Lester “Shorty” Eugene Dyer, 73 of Wilson is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Larry Murray and Ed Skidmore officiating. Interment will follow to Bomar Point Cemetery.

Mr. Lester “Shorty” Eugene Dyer was born July 21, 1943 to the late Mr. Chester Franklin Dyer and Mrs. Edna Mae (Churchill) Dyer in Rockport, MO. He departed from this life on March 14, 2017 at his home in Wilson.

Shorty married the former Barbara Long on June 30, 1978 in Gainesville, TX. He worked for the Wilson Co-op mostly in the peanut bins for over 15 years and shortly after worked for the Goddard Center as a janitor for 4 years. Shorty walked 5 miles or more collecting and recycling cans. He was a very passionate volunteer for the food bank at the House of Prayer in Ardmore. Shorty enjoyed camping, fishing, animals and riding around on his ATV’s. He was a man who loved his family. Shorty was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Ardmore.

Preceding him in death is his parents; siblings, Noren Hayes, Jerry Dyer, Jimmy Dyer, Carol Duke, Frances Yielding and Sue Gever.

Shorty is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; daughters, Patricia Dyer and Phil Carno of Wilson and Gina Nettles and husband Oscar of Carney, OK; son, Elvis Dyer and wife Catrina of Wilson; siblings, Linda Lingar of Texas, Kenneth Dyer and wife Sandra of Lone Grove, Wesley “Bo” Dyer and wife Misty of Ringling, Darrold “Red” Dyer and Stormie O'Daniel of Wilson, Patsy “Tommy” Long and husband Eddie of Wilson, Patty “Georgie” Smith and John Pierce of Healdton and Garrold “Sun Shine” Dyer of Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers will be Elvis Dyer, Derick Fuqua, Derick Vahidick, Terry Fuqua, Oscar Nettles and Dustin Bulla.
