Leonard Ray “Sonny” James

Wilson -- Funeral Services for Mr. Leonard Ray “ Sonny” James, 67, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dale Tarp and Gary Labeth officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Sonny was born April 11, 1942 at Fitzhugh, OK to the late Mr. Roy Leonard James and Mrs. Oda Carolyn (Lackey) James. He departed this life Saturday morning February 20, 2010 at his home in Wilson.

Sonny was raised in Seminole attending school there. He initially and favored most his employment with his Father, working in the Oilfields on pulling units all over Oklahoma. He continued to work in the Oilfield the majority of his working years lastly being employed with Armstrong Tools in El Reno. He and the former Mrs. Vivian Cunningham were united in marriage February 14, 1985 at Wilson. They spent twenty-five treasured years together.

Sonny and Vivian owned and operated “The Junque Store” on Main Street of Wilson for several years and were always very active in the community. Sonny was a regular volunteer for many organizations and individuals throughout the community always lending a hand. Sonny enjoyed traveling, camping and most of all being with his family. Sonny was a member of the Wilson Assembly of God Church.

Preceding him in death is his Parents, and 2nd mother, Lois James, daughter, Shelly Guinn, Son, Shane Cunningham and Sister, LaVerne Glenn.

Survivors include his wife Vivian of the home, Daughter, Kelly McGirt of Edmond, Sons, Billy Guinn and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, Donald Cunningham of Coalgate. Sister, Cheryl Bowman and husband Bill of Shawnee. Grandchildren, David and CeJae, Alicia and Alex, Erin and Christian, and Hadley. Special Friends, Jordan and Jason Lambert and Shelby Delano and sidekick, Dolly.

Casket Bearers are friends of Sonny.
