Healdton – Graveside Services for Mr. Leonard Finley Slawson, 82, of Wilson is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton.
Leonard was born December 21, 1928 at Wilson to the late Mr. William Forrest Slawson and Mrs. Mamie Elvira (Finley) Slawson. He departed this life Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Ardmore.
Leonard was raised in Wilson and attended school at Rexroat. He entered the United States Army January 29, 1951 and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged January 7, 1953. He and former Ms. Margaret “Mickey” Elizabeth Nelson were united in marriage June of 1951 at Gainesville, TX. She preceded him in death on November 6, 2005.
Leonard was self employed all of his working years, owning and operating Central Road Boring Company for 25 years. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing music with his steel guitar and playing dominoes and marbles.
In addition to his wife he is preceded in death by his Parents; Infant Daughter, Karen Sue Slawson – 1953; Sisters, Hazel Teese, Lorene Cormany, Flora Walk Bunch, and Izora Hendricks; Brothers, Floyd Clifford, and Lonnie Slawson.
Survivors include his Daughter, Denise Humphries and husband Paul of Healdton; Son, L. Dale Slawson of Wilson; Sister Idabelle Bunch of Amarillo, TX; 3 Grandchildren, Becky, Amanda, and Beth. 3 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
