Healdton - Funeral Services for Mr. Leonard Evan Owen, 87, of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday May 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Healdton with Pastor Susan Marks officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton. Services are under the care of direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Leonard was born May 26, 1927 at Goree, TX to the late Mr. Vaughn Owen and Mrs. Lucy (Bartlett) Owen. He departed this life Thursday, April 30, 2015 at The Woodlands, TX.

Leonard was raised at Seymour, TX volunteering his service for the United States Navy during WWII. He joined the Navy on March 8, 1945 and served honorably as a Seaman 1st Class until October 10, 1947. He returned home and soon married the former Ms. Wanda Fern Gregory on March 25, 1949 at Gainesville, TX. They resided at several communities in Texas before settling in Healdton in 1967. Leonard was employed in the Oil Industry all of his working years, retiring from LTV Energy in Healdton in 1985.

Leonard enjoyed always enjoyed living in Healdton. He loved playing golf with his numerous friends daily and found pleasure in the little things. He was very active in the Healdton Methodist Church where he held his membership.

Fern preceded him in death on April 14, 2013. Also preceding him in death were with his Parents; two daughters, Linda Cumpton and Jeannine Baird and a brother, O'dell Owen.

Survivors include his son, Mr. Gregory V. Owen and wife Ann of The Woodlands, TX; Son in law, Mr. Jim Cumpton of Ardmore; 7 grandchildren, John Cumpton and wife Stephanie of Houston, TX, Jason Cumpton and wife Stacy of Oklahoma City, Kirk Baird and wife Lindsey, Andy Baird and wife Melissa, and Scott Baird all of Houston, TX and Madeline Owen and Evan Owen of The Woodlands, TX.7 great grandchildren and numerous other family, church family and friends.

Casket Bearers are Jim Cumpton, Jack Glazier, Kirk Baird, Andy Baird, Scott Baird and Evan Owen.

Honorary Bearers are Jason Cumpton and John Cumpton.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
