Graveside Services for Mrs. Lennie Ozel (Glenn) Rutledge, 97 of Lone Grove are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday October 19, 2013 at the Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Rev. Morgan Ashworth officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Lennie was born March 1, 1916 at Wilson to the late Mr. Edward Stetson Glenn and Mrs. Grace Ann (Proctor) Glenn. She departed this life Tuesday October 15, 2013 at her home in Lone Grove.
Lennie was raised in Wilson residing on a farm East of Wilson near Dimmy John Creek. She was raised working and picking cotton in the cotton fields. She attended school at Bryan School and married the late Mr. James Edmond “Edd” Rutledge on Nov. 13, 1935. They continued to reside in Wilson until they moved to Lone Grove in 1980. Lennie always had a green thumb. She absolutely loved digging in the dirt gardening all the time. She was an accomplished seamstress and also crocheted. Lennie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.
Edd preceded her in death on April 10, 2006. Her parents, Granddaughter, Glendene Denton, Son in law Corky Bolles, Brothers Winfrey Glenn, Amos Glenn, Randolph Glenn; Sisters, Madeline Horn and Hazel McMillen also all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her Daughter, Barbara Walker and husband Gene of Lone Grove; 3 Granddaughters, Tracey Hamilton, Cathey McCutchen and Gina Black; 4 Grandchildren, 12, Great Grandchildren, 10 Great Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Great Grandchild. Numerous other family and friends.
Honorary Bearers are the Grandsons.
