Ringling- Graveside Services for Mrs. Leisa Jo (Abshire) Chastain, 56, of Ringling, are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore with Pastor Ellen Abshire and Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Leisa Jo (Abshire) Chastain was born November 3, 1960 at Wilson to the late Mr. Jimmy Joe Abshire and Mrs. Wilma June (Rhodes) Abshire. She departed this life Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore.
Leisa was raised in Ardmore growing up there and graduating from Ardmore High School in 1979. She married Michael Wade Chastain on July 21, 1979 and to this union they were blessed with two daughters, Christina and Amanda. Together they moved to Ringling in 1987, making it their permanent home. Leisa was fluent in Spanish which came in handy over the years. During her younger years, Leisa worked mostly in restaurants and nursing homes until she decided to further her education. She took classes at SOTC and soon obtained her paramedic license. Leisa then began working for Tri-City ambulance service until their closing. She also worked as a first responder with the Ringling Fire Dept. and later went to work for the Ringling Nursing Home until they also were faced with closing. Leisa’s health began failing forcing her into retirement. She was presently a member of The Church of God in Divine Order.
Preceding her in death was her parents and her two aunts, Virginia Rhodes and Loretta Nichols.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Wade Chastain of the home; two daughters, Christina “Christy” Rushing and husband Josh with their son Cory, and Amanda Chastain all of Ardmore; mother-in-law, Shirley Chastain of Healdton; sister, Gina Lane and nephew, Kyle Lane all of Ardmore; numerous cousins, other family, and friends.
Honorary bearers are the Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service Medics.
Family visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 14, 2016 from 6-8PM at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling.
