Lawrence Ellsworth Eakins

December 5, 1961 — February 27, 2018

Lawrence Ellsworth Eakins Jr., departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his residence in Ratliff City. Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday March 10, 2018 at Graham Pentecostal Church. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Homes & Crematory in Ratliff City.


Lawrence was born December 5, 1961 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Mr. Lawrence E. Eakins Sr. and Mrs. Judy (Smith) Schroeder.


Mr. Eakins grew up in Council Bluffs and attended school at Abraham Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1980. He moved to Oklahoma in 1995 and worked in the oilfields. He enjoyed camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, working on cars and around the house. He could always find a special nick name for his grandkids and family. He was a great man and will truly be missed by his friends and family.


Mr. Eakins is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence E. Eakins Sr.; two brothers, David and Mark Eakins; and a infant son Lawrence E. Eakins III.


He is survived by his wife, Michele Eakins of the home; sons, Jerred Eakins and Jonathan Eakins of Texas and Joshua Eakins of Omaha, NE; daughter, Chelcie Eakins of Omaha, NE; mother, Judy Schroeder and her husband Earl of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters, Theresa Gunia and husband Bob of Nebraska and Pam Selig of Wisconsin; brother, Mike Eakins and wife Angie of Council Bluffs, IA; step children, J.R. Barnett and wife Megan of Texas, Tinisha Simon and husband Guy of Ratliff City, Triston Barnett and Regina of Des Moines, IA, Nicole Barnett and fiancé Roger Griffin of New York; special friends, Ralph and Alice Pike of Sidney, NE; 15 grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
