Lavern Lawrence

Healdton - Funeral Services for Mrs. Lavern (Phillips) Lawrence, 86, of Loco are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. ~ Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Bro. Charles Jewell officiating. Interment will follow to Loco Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.

Lavern was born January 10, 1935 in Loco, OK to the late Mr. Melvin Johnson Phillips and Mrs. Nathalee Irene (Downes) Phillips. She departed from this life on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at her home in Loco.

Lavern was raised in Loco marrying Mr. H.D. Lawrence on December 26, 1951 at Duncan. Lavern was 15 years old at the time. They lived in Seattle, WA following Harold's service enlistment for two years, but they have lived the rest of their years at Loco. Lavern was an accomplished pilot building her plane and flew it to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Before that, she ranched and was a truck driver, hauling fluids within the oilfield. Lavern was the caretaker of Loco Cemetery, never taking any pay. She took pride within Loco Cemetery. Lavern was an excellent housewife and parent. She was baptized October 12, 1997 and was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and a granddaughter, Tera Keenan.

Lavern is survived by her husband, Harold Dale Lawrence of the home; daughters, Susie McCurry and husband Dale of Loco and Linda Brewer and husband Jim of Loco; son, Gerald Lawrence and Ted Robinson of Marlow; brother, Travis Phillips and wife Mary of Ardmore; grandchildren, Jason Brewer and wife Lori, Brandi Williams and husband Juan, Johnene Smith and husband Casey, and Chris Fenton and wife Trina; 9 great grandchildren, and by a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Chad Walker, Jason Brewer, Juan Williams, Casey Smith, Chris Fenton, and Glenn Knutson. Honorary bearers will be Loco Store Breakfast Crew, Mike Whitehead, Mike Hoggard, Lynn Thompson, Frankie McDowell, Randy Weaver, Darren Griffith, and Leroy Griffith.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Friday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
