Larry "Scott" Darnell

Larry “Scott” Darnell, 73, of Wilson, was born April 22, 1951, at Duncan, OK to the late Mr. Elbert Leslie Darnell and Mrs. Velma (Hensley) Darnell. He departed this life Friday, June 7, 2024, at Ardmore, OK.

Scott was raised in Walters, OK where he attended school. He and his family briefly moved to Phoenix, Arizona, but returned to Walters. Scott began his working career doing construction alongside of his father and brother, building homes and building cabinets for contracted work. Several years later, he was employed by Coca-Cola, where he began his career as a truck driver, making deliveries. Around 1988, Scott bought his own truck and began providing transport for several different companies. He married Susan Betts and to this union he was blessed with a daughter, Angela. Scott later remarried to the former Ms. Carmen Wright on June 29, 1991, at the Lutheran Church in Ardmore. The couple met in Sulphur, where Scott’s father was living in one of Carmen’s rental homes. Scott and Carmen been together for nearly 30 years.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Justin Walker in 2011; sister-in-law, Luann Darnell.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen of the home; daughter, Angela Owen of Fort Worth, TX; son, Ricky Walker of Wilson; brother, Leslie "Les" Darnell of Minneola, TX; grandchildren, Trae Burger III, Derick Walker, Kyra Walker, J.W. Dekle, Sheldun Dekle, Destiny Dekle, and Camren Dekle; great grandchildren, Phoenix, Asmyn, Adaline, Hazel, and Baylor; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Crematory.
