Healdton - Funeral Services for Mr. Larry "Jug" Russell Pickelsimer, 71 of Healdton are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Healdton First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston and Bro. Aaron Hawn officiating. Interment will follow to Mount Olive Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
Jug was born August 3, 1950 in Duncan to the late Mr. Beecher M. Pickelsimer and Mrs. Gloria Dean (Kirkpatrick) Pickelsimer. He departed from this life on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at his home in Healdton.
Jug was raised at Healdton, moving from Duncan at the age of five. He graduated with the Healdton High School Class of 1968 and then voluntarily enlisted into the US Navy, at the age of 17, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Base at Oak Harbor, WA, serving on the USS Ranger. While he was stationed there and visiting the nearby town Sedro Wooley, he met Pam Green. They soon were married on November 21, 1969 at Marblemount, WA. Upon his naval discharge, and after Jug tried out as a logger, they moved back to his hometown of Healdton with their firstborn, Nichole.
Jug loved working in the Oilfield industry, most recently as a production foreman for Citation Oil and Gas. Throughout his years, he owned and operated several businesses, the Pickelsimer Gulf Station, Jugs Get "N" Go, several gravel trucks and an oilfield construction company. Jug retired from Citation this past July and was looking forward to spending time with his family. In his younger years, Jug enjoyed Steer roping, and most recently liked to be at the Lake and golf. Jug was a man of faith and loved attending church at Milo and Hilltop Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his parents in law, Leslie and Elsie Green.
Jug is survived by his wife, Pamela Pickelsimer of the home; children, Nichole Barrett and husband Mark, Deron Pickelsimer and wife Amber, and Lisa Timmons and husband Art, all of Healdton; brothers, Bill Pickelsimer and wife Jane of Oklahoma City, and Kenny Pickelsimer of Healdton; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Dylan Pickelsimer, Caleb Pickelsimer, Dakota Pickelsimer, Dalton Gillihan, Colton Pickelsimer, Wade Etter, Clay Pickelsimer, Nicholas Timmons, and Tyler Timmons.
Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Caylin McElroy, Abbie Etter, Allie Pickelsimer and all his Citation Buddies.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Thursday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Jug Pickelsimer Scholarship Fund at PO BOX 873, Healdton, OK 73438.
