Velma - Graveside Services for Landon Drake Downey, 8 of Ratliff City are scheduled for 3:00 P.M., Friday January 15, 2021 at the New Velma Cemetery with Pastor David McGrew officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel in Velma.

Landon was born February 17, 2012 in Fort Smith, AR to Troy Derik Downey and Ashlie Elizabeth Prentice. He departed from this earthly life on Friday, January 8, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK to be in his heavenly home.

Our sweet Landon's life brought us the goodness and innocence of God. Everyone who knew him saw that he was wise beyond his years. He loved his family and never wanted to spend a night without them and he didn't. We are so, so blessed to have known him. Through his going home to be with the Lord, he has touch and forever changed our lives in countless ways. Landon loved fishing, singing and being a gamer. Where we are he can't come but where he is we can go one day. We pray we live a life that he would be proud of until we meet him again in Glory.

Preceding him in death are his great grandparents, Leona and Donald Sisco; and great aunt Terri Wright.

Landon is survived by his parents; Troy Downey and Ashlie Prentice of the home; baby brother, Lucas Ryan Downey of the home; grandparents, Angela Pruitt and husband Danny of Sallisaw, Tommy Downey and wife Kim of Ratliff City, and Robert and Donna Strickland of Sallisaw; great grandmother, Lauranna Cox and husband Ray of Ratliff City and Bea Bench of Velma; uncles, Jake Pruitt of Salisaw, Thomas Prentice of Fort Smith, AR, and Douglas Prentice of Oregon City, OR; aunts, Rachel Watson and husband Jerald and their children Eli and Emily of Roland, OK; Sarah Short and husband Chris of Van Buren, AR, and Samantha Prentice of Sallisaw; great uncles, Todd Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Stacey Wright; numerous other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Thomas Prentice, Christopher Bench, Jake Pruitt, Stacey Wright, Tim Bench, and Jerald Watson.
Honorary Bearers will be Elijah Watson, Carter Bench, Timothy Bench, Price Shaw and Ryder Hare.
